When To Outsource?

Updated: Aug 8, 2022

It's a big question and one I am asked regularly so let's take a look at this.

Small Business Owners/Sole Traders listen up, because this is for you!

First of all, you don't need to be making 'x' per month, to start looking to outsource. You don't need to be working 'xy' hours per month to outsource either.

I like to look at this more holistically, and invite you to really take a good look at your business and your life.

Are you so burnt out every night from trying to do ALL the things?

Is your family life or relationships suffering?

We all know as business owners there are sacrifices we need to make to ensure we are giving our all to our businesses. I'm not saying that you should stop that, I am just saying take a look and ask yourself if it's starting to grind you down and affect your health, mental wellness, or real-life relationships.

If you find yourself nodding your head to this, then maybe it's time you outsourced some of your business tasks to allow you the time to look after yourself and create some balance.

Secondly, have a look at the tasks you are doing week to week.

The tasks that are bogging you down, that you dislike doing or are taking up time that you should be spending with a client or focusing on growing your business. If you have too many of these tasks then it may be time to outsource.

An example of this is with one of my clients who is a Wedding Co-coordinator. Yes, she is totally capable of running her own social media but decided to outsource it to me.

Why? Well we Melbournians know this ALL too well, the amount of work with rescheduling weddings and the events industry is inundated with new requests to book in celebrations, my client's focus needed to be on this part of her business instead of organising and scheduling content.

I'm sure she could have stayed up to midnight each night working but it's about working smarter and outsourcing to me really relieved a bit of that pressure for her and she was able to do the tasks that only she could do.

I hope this has helped you think about when it may be time for you to outsource.
